DRC Congo

Update 2009

Funded by theSierra Foundation and with local support of the friends of the Heineken – brewery Bralima, Mesics enabled Frère Innocent to start a carpentry shop in Patu. This shop should generate income for this main region, “Foyer des Jeunes Désouvrés de Kangu”. When this carpentry shop proves to be financially self supporting, Mesics will consider to support Frère Innocent with his two new ambitions, a sewing shop and a poshomill.

Since 2002 Mesics cooperates in the DRC with Father Innocent Tsumbu Pfuti of the Congregation “Frères de St Joseph de Boma” in the province of Bas-Congo. Father Innocent organises an institute for orphans and unemployed youngsters to teach them basic skills.

With assistance of the Dutch Embassy in Kanshasa, two tilapia ponds have been built with a surface of aprox 100m², and one pigsty for aprox 10 pigs. The total investment is aprox € 9.000,-. The own contribution is in the form of labour by the youngsters.
